Who it’s for
Built for the people taking this exam.
Security analysts in compliance-heavy environments, government contractors who require CEH on the 8140 list.
Why it matters in 2026
The career signal.
CEH (currently v13) is DoD 8140-approved for CSSP Analyst, CSSP Incident Responder, CSSP Auditor, and CND-related roles, which is why it still appears on federal-contractor job postings despite being widely critiqued as less rigorous than OSCP or PenTest+. It is ANSI/ISO 17024-accredited and recognized by NSA-CSS for select work roles. For compliance-driven hiring (especially at federal contractors and large enterprises with named-cert procurement clauses) CEH remains a checkbox that opens interviews other certs do not.
Sample question
What a EC-Council® CEH™ question looks like.
An organization requires workers to swipe a badge and enter a personal identification number before entering a secured area. Which security concept does this combination best illustrate?
Why: Multi-factor authentication combines two or more distinct verification methods — here, the badge represents something the user possesses, while the PIN represents something the user knows. Firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption address different security problems and do not involve layered identity verification at entry points.
