CompTIA® Cloud+Cloud Certification (CV0-004)
CompTIA Cloud+ is the vendor-neutral cloud operations and security certification, current version CV0-004 (released March 2024, replacing CV0-003). It validates skills across cloud architecture, deployment, operations, security, DevOps fundamentals, and troubleshooting on AWS-, Azure-, and GCP-style providers. Unlike vendor exams that tie a candidate to a single platform, Cloud+ tests transferable concepts that map across providers, including IaC, containers, automation pipelines, and shared-responsibility security models. The CV0-004 refresh added meaningful DevOps coverage and is the first version explicitly aligned with multi-cloud and hybrid environments rather than legacy IaaS-only deployments.

Who it’s for
Built for the people taking this exam.
Systems administrators moving into cloud operations roles, junior cloud engineers, and IT generalists who need a vendor-neutral cloud credential before specializing in AWS, Azure, or GCP exams. Common pick at MSPs running hybrid environments where a single vendor cert would miss most of the stack.
Why it matters in 2026
The career signal.
Cloud+ is one of the few hands-on cloud certs that is DoD 8140-approved (for CSSP Infrastructure Support roles), making it directly bookable on federal contracts. It is a strong resume bridge for sysadmins who run hybrid environments but cannot justify taking three separate vendor exam stacks. Hiring managers at MSPs and hybrid-cloud shops treat it as proof of multi-cloud literacy without the AWS/Azure/GCP lock-in, and the BLS projects 32% growth for cloud-related roles through 2034.
Sample question
What a CompTIA® Cloud+ question looks like.
Which category of secondary data store does a content delivery network (CDN) best represent?
Why: Replicas enhance reliability and fault tolerance by duplicating data across multiple storage devices in different locations. CDNs are a real-world application of this concept, distributing assets such as video and static web content to improve delivery performance. Network attached storage (NAS) is a file-sharing technology not inherently tied to secondary storage. Synthetic may refer to concepts like synthetic testing or synthetic full backups. Differential describes a backup approach that captures changes made since the most recent full backup.
