HR, Admissions & Standardized Exams
Sarah Mitchell, SHRM-SCP
Editor — HR & Standardized Admissions
Sarah is a director of people operations at a series-C SaaS company — talent management, employee relations, comp design, the half of HR that doesn't make it into the recruiter LinkedIn posts. She came into HR from a research-psychology background (BA from a Midwestern state school, MA in Industrial-Organizational Psychology), which still shapes how she reads standardized-test items: as instruments with discriminative parameters rather than puzzles.
Outside her day job she has spent three years writing curriculum for an admissions-tutoring outfit — GRE General, GMAT Focus Edition, and a Praxis Core track she designed during the 2022 redesign. She holds the SHRM-SCP and HRCI PHR, and she retook the GRE in 2024 just to confirm her question-style instincts hadn't drifted. Her quant section had drifted. Her verbal hadn't.
On Cert Climb she covers HR certifications (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR), graduate-admissions tests (GRE, GMAT), the ASVAB, and teacher-licensure tracks (Praxis Core and Subject Assessments). Her guides over-index on time management and section strategy because that's what separates 50th- from 85th-percentile scores in practice — once content review is competent, pacing is the multiplier.
